CrN®
The coating of choice for milling and drilling non-ferrous materials
1,800 HV
700° C operating temperature
2 - 5 µm coating layer thickness
Silvery metallic colored
Features |
Benefits |
Excellent abrasion and frictional characteristics |
Provides optimum coating for milling and drilling non-ferrous metals |
Extremely resistant to chemical attack, with low affinity for the machined metal |
Demonstrates excellent wear resistance, even in non-lubricated, high-friction contact |
With its relatively low hardness of 1,800 HV and its excellent abrasion and frictional characteristics, CrN is ideal for milling and drilling non-ferrous metals. This results in a uniform coating thickness for longer wear and reduced costs.
Because CrN is extremely resistant to chemical attack and has a low affinity for the machined metal, it can be employed successfully for cutting of titanium, titanium alloys, copper, brass, and other non-ferrous metals. Even in high-friction, non-lubricated contact with these materials, CrN demonstrates excellent wear resistance. Therefore, CrN is a welcome alternative in industries where titanium based coatings cannot be used because of the materials in the workplace that must be machined.
